vintage-silverplate-oval-serving-bowl-75773
Vintage Silverplate Oval Serving Bowl, Floral Border Centerpiece Bowl, Aged Silver Tableware

This vintage oval serving bowl has a wonderfully simple shape finished with a delicate floral and leaf border around the rim. Its shallow profile gives it the versatility of both serving piece and decorative bowl, beautiful piled with apples or pears on a kitchen table, filled with seasonal greenery, or brought out for bread, rolls and other dishes when entertaining.

The silver finish has developed considerable character over time, with darkened details along the patterned border and a warm, mottled patina across the bowl. Rather than feeling overly formal, its age makes it particularly easy to mix with everyday ceramics, linen and other collected pieces.

No maker or metal-content mark has been identified, so the piece is described conservatively as silverplate/silver-tone rather than sterling.

Condition: Vintage condition with substantial surface wear consistent with age and previous use, including scratching, tarnish, spotting, discoloration, oxidation and variation to the plated finish. The underside also shows considerable scratching and wear. It has been left with much of its existing patina rather than polished bright. Please review photographs closely for condition.

Vintage pieces have lived a life before arriving here.
