Vintage Silverplate Covered Butter Dish, Trinket Dish, Small Handled Condiment Dish, Aged Silver Serveware

This petite silverplate covered dish features a traditional rectangular form with two decorative handles and a repeating leaf-like border around both the base and fitted lid. At just under 5 inches wide, it’s a charming little piece for the smaller details of the table.

Originally suited to butter, condiments or other small accompaniments, it could be styled with flaky salt and a tiny serving spoon, filled with wrapped sweets, or simply displayed among a collection of old silver.

The best part may be its wonderfully timeworn finish. Layers of tarnish, darkening and warmer tones have developed across the surface, with small areas of oxidation and verdigris adding to its collected character. It has been left largely as found rather than polished bright.

Condition: Vintage condition with substantial patina and surface wear throughout, including tarnish, scratches, spotting, discoloration, oxidation, areas of verdigris and variation to the plated finish.
