vintage-silver-tone-covered-butter-dish-95719
Vintage Silver Tone Covered Butter Dish, Glass Insert, Ornate Ribbed Dome Butter Server

This vintage covered butter dish is wonderfully elaborate, pairing an ornate silver-tone base with a deeply ribbed domed cover and decorative wreath-style handle. Inside sits a fitted pressed-glass butter insert with a radiating pattern that echoes the fluting of the lid.

It’s the sort of serving piece that makes an everyday stick of butter feel entirely worthy of ceremony. Bring it out for a holiday table or Sunday dinner, or leave it among a collection of old silver where the darkened finish and ornate details can do their work.

The removable glass insert makes the piece particularly practical while preserving all the decorative appeal of the surrounding metalwork.

Condition: Vintage condition with considerable patina and evidence of previous use throughout. The silver-tone surfaces show darkening, tarnish-like oxidation, spotting, scratches, discoloration and areas of finish wear. The glass insert shows age-related surface wear and scratching; please review the close-up photographs carefully for its condition. The metal has been left with its aged finish rather than polished bright.

No maker or metal-content mark has been identified from the markings shown, so the metal is described conservatively as silver-tone rather than sterling or silverplate.

Vintage pieces have lived a life before arriving here. Small imperfections, variations and signs of age are part of their story.

DIMENSIONS 5” x 8” x 3”

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0965/3547/8575/files/il_fullxfull.8678116503_3914_5c112c6a-3359-4a4b-802c-d21de8956002.jpg?v=1792958196
