Vintage EPNS Silverplate Bird Claw Tongs, Novelty Tableware (6" Long)

These vintage silverplate tongs trade the usual serving ends for a wonderfully unexpected pair of sculpted bird feet, complete with individually formed toes and textured detailing.

Traditionally suited to sugar cubes or ice, they’re just as appealing as a curious little piece of old tableware—something to leave beside the cocktail setup, add to a collection of old silver, or bring out whenever the table could use a little personality.

The interior bears an EPNS mark, indicating electroplated nickel silver.

Vintage condition with considerable patina and signs of previous use, including tarnish, darkening, scratching, spotting and variation to the silverplate finish. The bird-foot ends have developed particularly dark patina that emphasizes their sculptural detail. They have been left with their aged finish rather than polished bright.
