Vintage Brass Scallop Shell Bookends, Coastal Nautical Library Decor (Pair)
A pair of vintage brass bookends shaped like oversized scallop shells, with deeply ribbed fronts and a wonderfully aged finish.
Substantial and sculptural, the shells have enough presence to be decorative even without books between them. Style them on a bookshelf, console, or desk, or mix them into a collected library alongside worn books, pottery, and other vintage brass.
The warm brass has developed variations in tone, darkened details, surface marks, and patina that beautifully emphasize the shell’s ridged texture. One retains a partial Made in India label.
Sold as a pair.
Vintage condition with patina, oxidation, scratches, discoloration, and other signs of age and previous use. I would leave the finish largely as-is rather than heavily polishing these. Please review photos for condition.
